Green Spaces

Planting trees to offset carbon emissions has been under scrutiny for some time now. This is because the science is imprecise and most offset schemes are in developing countries where investment goes a lot further, but there are real uncertainties about the life expectancy of some of these projects.
Yes, we do plant trees. However, we recognize that for forests to be effective 'carbon sinks' they must be properly managed, of native stock and planted as permanent features of our landscape - They have a far greater role to play in the bigger picture.
Our intention is to create a network of Green Spaces and broadleaf woodlands around the UK, sponsored by local business, that will help absorb CO2 and provide a platform for education on climate change.
Native woodlands provide crucial habitats for wildlife and both recreational and educational areas for everyone to enjoy. As well as providing natural habitats for a broad range of native species, our Green Spaces and woodlands should also support a social need. This might be to produce timber for green home building, charcoal making or the cultivation of species specifically for their food. And by making all of these environments publicly accessible and available as an educational resource, they will allow people to forge a greater understanding of their wider importance.
The c-change trust has planted 4500 native trees over the last year at Coed Marros in Wales. We are now helping to fund the establishment of a native tree nursery as well as on-site forest education throughout the year for local children.
To more usefully 'sequester' your carbon emissions we need to use Hemp
